Before a patient applies for a payment plan, it's essential to verify their identity to
protect both our providers and patients from fraud. Ensure that you retain a copy of the
applicant's valid government-issued photo ID in their chart for audit and record-keeping
purposes.

Spotting a Fake ID
There are a few ways the ensure the physical IDs being assessed are valid. We’ve summed up a few red flags to look out for.
- Check for holographic overlays over the photo and/or laser engravings.
- Check for misspellings.
- Information listed in the incorrect location.
- Rough or bumpy texture.
- Verbal verification of patient information does not match information on the ID.
